Beyond that, the country that was helped out by the 5000 plus Americans who died fighting over there wasn’t the US. It was Iran.
Iran had two major enemies on it’s border in 2001 for which jockeying for position with. The Taliban to the East and Saddam’s Iraq to the West. Within two years Bush had smashed both enemies to smithereens and allowed Iran to step into the breach, and expand her hegemony into Iraq and start throwing her weight her around along with rattling her saber.
Iran is now vastly stronger and more influential than ever before and she’s that way with out having to spend any money or losing a single soldier.
Honestly, I’m not sure George Bush could have done more to help Iran if he’d been a paid agent of the Iranian government.
You may like to think that when the US thew away huge amounts of good will, treasure and the lives of it’s soldiers it somehow made the US safer, but in fact they country the US soldiers sacrificed themselves for was Iran.
So, go ahead and “curb stomp” someone else if you want, but I have a hunch it’s not the US who will benefit.
