Well Viking I was lost due to a faulty command but Viking 2 was turned off after its batteries failed.

This reminds me of Apollo 12; as you’ll recall, they landed very close to the Surveyor 3 probe that had been sent to the Moon a few years previously. There’s a nice picture [here](http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap031005.html).

I can’t remember which year Erik the Red played for the Vikings, but he would definitely sack Britain.
