So, Dateline NBC got some muslim-looking guys, put them in turbans or skull caps, wired them with mics and hidden cameras and sent them to the NASCAR race at Martinsville, VA, last weekend. They wanted some good footage of hillbilly redneck chainsmoking beer chugging neanderthals giving them shit to prove that Americans hate Muslims. What did they get? Nothing…nada…bupkiss… WTF? NBC broadcasts half of the NASCAR season, do they seriously believe that NASCAR fans are not going to notice? Not only are they hillbilly rednecks, but they are stupid hillbilly rednecks? I hope that NASCAR pulls the plug on NBC at the end of their contract. That’s bullshit. And then instead of apologizing, they claim they didn’t do anything wrong. So are you claiming that NASCAR fans are \*not \*hillbilly rednecks? But seriously, NBC should drop NASCAR because it’s lame to begin with. C’mon, people go in the hopes that there will be a spectacular crash, then when one happens and one of their ‘heroes’ dies, the magnetic-bumper-sticker industry makes a fortune because of all the sappy sentiment. NASCAR sucks. And every NASCAR fan I know is a redneck hillbilly. If the faux-muslims didn’t get any shit, its probably because all the fans were too busy watching for a crash or having conflicting emotions watching a pit crew at work. That, or everyone thought their turbans were some sort of new beer-insulating hat. ---

So NBC, in response to a poll indicating an increase in anti-Muslim sentiment among Americans, wanted to see if it could document anti-Muslim sentiment among Americans. NBC was unable to do so. How outrageous of NBC to follow up on a news story. Damn them to Hell. ---

This is race week in D/FW. The latest joke making the rounds is that NASCAR is an acronym for **N** on- **A** thletic **S** port **C** entered **A** round **R** ednecks. 🙂 As an (almost) life-long Texan, I can say that the majority of the NASCAR fans I know would immediately and proudly characterize themselves as rednecks. But none of them would confront a person wearing a turban at a race, unless they’d had a beer or 12, at which time they would confront a trailer hitch if they thought it was looking at them funny. FTR, I am neither redneck nor NASCAR fan. My only beef with the sport is the mind-numbing amount of traffic it generates whenever there’s a race in town - and I live 40 miles away from the track! ---
