The remake of The Yellow Submarine. [Disney killed it.](http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/disney-kills-yellow-submarine-remake-20110315) If ever there was a movie to replace the Pink Floyd laser show this was it.

Name a movie you think would fly (and why) and feel free to crap on Disney for this bad decision.

I don’t think you’re going to get a lot of support on this one. I’m pretty sure you’re the first person I’ve ever heard of who thought this remake was a good idea. And I’m not saying that as a hater: I thought there was an outside chance that a remake might not suck, and that seemed to be the most radically optimistic outlook I could find on the film’s future.

I’ll crap on Disney, but not about TYS. From the link:

Maybe I’m out of the loop, but with a title like **Mars Needs Moms** , what _were_ they thinking?

crap, I thought I could find the trailer for the new one but I can’t. It really was spectacular and I was ready to dig my heals in on the blasphemy of doing a remake.

I think confidence in Zemeckis’ Imagemovers motion capture tech is rightfully shaken. By now, most people have noticed that it sucks pretty hard.

I liked _Monster House_, which was a Zemeckis motion capture film that did decent, though not spectacular, Box Office. It was stylised enough to work. It appears they didn’t learn any lessons from that one, and continued to head in a mostly realistic direction, which works against the technique.

The trailer for Yellow Submarine was extremely creative. Disney needs to stop commissioning treacle and expecting it to sell. If the original movie was rated a 7 on a scale of ten, this one would have gotten a 10 for imagination.

_At the Mountains of Madness_ and/or _Call of Cthulhu_.

I want to see bizarre, impossible alien geometries. I want to see monsters that [look like this](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQmFWYWqTZA), and horrible enough in 2D, but when rendered in 3D appear impossibly _concave_ onscreen.

I want to have a migraine, two bleeding eyes, and a liquid hydrogen chill running down my spine by the time the credits are over.

**Lamar** , you may be happy to know that Playboy agreed with you when _The Stewardesses_ came out, way back about 1970. The eviewer waxed rhapdsodic about the novelty and improved experience of 3D. And the novelty drew people in – I knew very straitlaced folks who would never watch porn who went to see that one.

films that would work well in 3D:

\*\*Fantastic Voyage

Forbidden Planet

\*\*
The original **Sleuth** (Not the remake) or **The Last of Sheila**. You can you the 3D going into the cluttered rooms as a metaphor for going into the mystery. The new Sleuth, in its antiseptic set, wouldn’t work at all.

Are you sure you aren’t misremembering some promotion for _The Beatles: Rock Band_ or something? It doesn’t appear that the development ever got to the point that they might credibly have even considered releasing a _teaser._

Are you thinking of [this?](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSLLxRmR3nY) That wasn’t a movie trailer, that was the intro to the video game _The Beatles: Rock Band_. I agree, a entire movie done in that style would be interesting, but that’s pretty certainly not what we would have gotten.

Yes, that’s it. I was under the impression it was going to be done by the same people who created that.

I would like to see some of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Mars or Pellucidar novels done in 3D.

Or Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers.
