This situation is different. I don’t think anyone can argue that Islamic extremists of various stripes continue to plan attacks on Americans and American interests both abroad and here. Furthermore, a defeat of America in Iraq would likely embolden these forces and encourage them to plan further attacks on us.

The degree to which we can engage and prevent such attacks in a post-Iraq environment ought to be a matter of concern, study, and debate.

So, leaving Iraq and devoting the resources wasted there to Afghanistan and Pakistan, directly attacking alQ, would be a sign of weakness how? Or do you think the Iraqi insurgents would care one bit about attacking us at home?

Don’t you think it’s time for you to join the reality based community?

Only if we get them neutered, vaccinated and deflea-ed. And you’re taking on a heck of a responsibility - you’ll have to feed them, water them, groom them, walk them every day, clean up their messes… Frankly I’m not sure you’re up to the task - remember what happened to the guinea pig? A terrorist is a big commitment - you can’t just leave one tethered up in the yard when you go to school - and what happens when you go away to summer camp? We’ll see what your father says.
