There are already some named in this thread(pookah & kitsune for example), but there are a lot more in mythologies if occasionally turning into a canine or horse doesn’t do it for you. Is there any type of shapeshifter that turns into a cat? Otherwise, the naga and kitsune options sound good. ---

I’d be a Titanide from Varley’s Titan/Wizard/Demon trilogy. Basically centaurs, but they all present (in the human part) as female. (If I remember correctly, the horse part is what determines gender.) Tough, fierce, smart and they LOVE music. ---

A 3.5e D&D Bronze Dragon. If I kept the same age category (Old) as I am now, I’d be ludicrously tough, breath lightning and repulsion gas, be able to polymorph to Human (or other) form, Fly (of course), wicked Fear Aura if I so chose, breath water, speak to animals, immune to electrical damage, create food and water, and detect people’s thoughts. Yeah, I could do that. ---
