Could it be something that helps a career, without making a career? I’d lovet o be better at languages. I can learn them when I need to, but I’m eternally envious of people who have the gift for it. ---

I got my first guitar at 14. It was a cheap Japanese acoustic knock-off, third-hand model. I blamed the guitar for why I sucked. I got rid of that guitar, but got a new, nicer acoustic at 18. I just suck, I have absolutely no rhythm, zero. My hand-eye coordination ain’t the best either. No amount of practice is gonna make me a good guitar player, but if I could magically get good, this would be my choice. ---

Comprehension. I’d love to be one of those people who can read something once, or listen to a lecture and immediately understand. If I had to pick a particular subject, I’d say math. I have no interest in being a math teacher or a mathematician. I just really hate having to read everything over and over and over in order for it to click. ---

making an instant connection with people. I am very lucky to have some very deep, long term friendships, but, damn, it takes a long time for them to reach that level. If I’d known I was going to need to invest so much time I would’ve tried to be a bit more social 15 years ago. ---

Like many others in this thread my first inclination was to go with music, but on second thought cooking would probably make a bigger difference in my life. I’m capable of following a recipe and everything, but I definitely do not have a gift for cooking and also really dislike doing it. I like _eating_ good food though, and I figure that if I had even a modest talent for cooking then I’d probably enjoy it more.
