I was saddened at the news yesterday that the Sumatran (white) rhino is now extinct in the wild. Although there are still specimens in zoos, for purposes of this posting, I’m ignoring that and voting for the white rhino to be brought back…before it’s completely and utterly too late.
It’s not extinct, so it doesn’t need to be “brought back”. There is an effort in place already to re-introduce it back into the wild, and it can already be said to be existing in semi-wild conditions. It’s just that, at this stage, just letting them run wild would ensure their extinction.
