There is one good thing about Lando surviving: for once, the black guy does not die. If Lucas were making that film these days Lando would be played by Don Cheadle and would spend the whole movie dying while saying “no, go on without me… gasp!”

**Army of Darkness should have lost that stupid S-mart ending and kept the original, where Ash takes one drop too many of the sleeping potion and wakes up in a post-nuke LA. It fits the hard-luck loser nature of the character much better, and is thematically similar to the ending of Evil Dead II: Dead Before Dawn. **
Now, I have to admit, I spent a lot of time wondering if the original ending would have been better. It sounded cooler, and definitely made sense with the character, but then I saw it, and compared it, and the S-Mart ending RULEZ!!! That’s with a Z, so you know it’s good. Honestly, the Rip Van Winkle ending does show what a fuck up Ash was, but the S-Mart ending shows that, plus how he’s developed as a person (no longer terrified, cowering little Ashley, but wisecracking, gun slinging bad ass Ash). He still fucks up (the Daemons are still around) but he’s there to kick some ass, and it’s just fitting. The only way the original ending would have worked is if they kept the original openning, but unfortunately, both were too dark, so therefore everything in the middle would have seemed WAAAAY out of place.(on a side note, where do you live? I just ask because LA to my knowledge is best to stand for Los Angeles, which is not where Ash woke up, it was London. And it’s Dead BY Dawn, not before dawn. Sorry, I’m an ED freak).
As for movies I’d end differently, Doom Generation comes to mind. It’s a shit movie, and I can’t believe I care enough about it to care about the ending, but killing the boyfriend in such a way was just shit.
[Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows[/] also seemed to end abruptly for me. It’s like the movie FINALLY got to something suspenseful and good, and BAM…credits. WhuH!!!
There’s a lot of talk that the end to Dark City should be less “psychic fighting,” but I’m not too sure if I’m convinced, any other opinions on that?
House on Haunted Hill the remake that came out about two years ago. Honestly, that was a GREAT movie, but fifteen minutes to the end, the flush everything down the toilet for the Big Ball of Evil?!?!?!?! WTF?!?!?!
I can think of more, but my rant at the top took a lot of space, so I’ll leave it at that.

**I only wish the producers of “The Abyss” had put a little more time or money into the end of the movie. I couldn’t help but think they shot it in sequence and the budget had run dry by the end. Or, they simply got bored with their own production. **
Have you seen the director’s cut? The ending isn’t that much different (as I recall) but the events leading up to it are better explained, so the ending makes more sense.

**May I simply remove the last 10 minutes or so of “AI?” **
<SPOILERS>
Only the last 10 minutes?
How about ending with David falling off the building into the water?
Can we ditch Robin Williams’ cameo, too? I’d gladly forgo that scene for more of Jude Law… rrrrrrowl!
