I’m not sure. I’ve told plenty of friends and family that I post here fairly regularly, but I don’t know if any of them would have the wherewithal to figure out how to inform anybody here of anything. On the other hand, if my demise was sufficiently public, there are enough Dopers who know me personally that someone might be able to figure it out. ---

I’m not sure. My former roommate plays fantasy football as part of a couple of the Doper leagues, although he’s not on here himself. If I knock off, I’m sure he’d remember to tell **SenorBeef** to not save a spot for me. It’d fall to SB to tell you guys. But the board likely wouldn’t know until football season. ---

No. My wife knows I post here but does not participate in any sort of internet social networking of any kind and isn’t interested in such things. She sometimes asks, “what are you telling \*those people \*now?” when I am on the computer while she is watching TV. She knows that Dallas is the name of our cat but would not recognize **Dallas Jones** as being me. We have separate computers and a good marriage, so she doesn’t snoop either. I usually log in to post and log out. So if I died and she clicked on the SDMB on the favorites, it is unlikely that I would still be logged on and there is just no way the is going to create an account to talk to you. She assumes you are all a bunch of weirdos. ---

Doubt it. I’m facebook friends with a few dopers, but I don’t know that my death would be ever mentioned on facebook. Even if it were, I have no SDMB friends in common with IRL friends, so they’d never see mention of my death in their facebook feeds. I’ve come to embrace the void anyhow. Entropy ensures that none of us will be remembered forever. ---

Well you would most likely know that I personally died, as it would probably be picked up by the AP or other newswires. But you would not be able to link the fact that my real life persona is in any way connected with the username Omar Little here at the dope. ---

I would assume that someone would post something about it on my Facebook page and Dopers that I’m friends with there would take notice. Or, at least, I would hope that would be the case. ---

You know, one thing people might want to consider is putting contact info for someone that would know of their demise in their personal profile. “If you don’t hear anything from me for 2 months, email x@y.” Just a thought if’n you’d want people to know and remember you [del]fondle[/del] fondly. ---

I went away from the dope for a few years and no-one commented. Although having said that perhaps they did! Anyhow, no one said a word when I returned - but perhaps I’m not a regular enough poster. ---
