If you don’t understand that laundry does not pick itself up and fling itself into the washing machine, without human intervention, then we can’t be together.

And if you don’t understand that washing machines aren’t magic, we can’t be together. All it does is swish stuff around in water and soap. I don’t care if your tennis shoes are the same color as the washrags, you don’t wash them together.

My wife [a] can’t load the dishwasher properly, and ** doesn’t check whether the stuff is clean (which, because of [a], it usually isn’t) before putting it in the cupboard.

I know, I know.

But, this is a pretty minor fault when contrasted with all of her other wonderful qualities, so I am prepared to let it slide. I’ve even stopped complaining when I get a bowl out of at breakfast time and find dried Weetabix on it.

Why would the single guys need to learn how to properly shirk adult responsibilities? They’re only annoying themselves if they don’t do a good job cleaning their own houses.

In my experience, “a good job cleaning” usually means being much cleaner than is actually necessary. I got along fine in college doing just as much cleaning as I do now, despite not having anyone to clean up after me.

You know, there’s a real simple solution to her not loading the dishwasher the way you want her to. Load it yourself.

You can either do the job yourself, and have control over how it is done, or delegate the job and the control over how it is done to someone else. There are no other choices. You don’t get to tell other adults how to do a job unless you’re paying them. Would you rather do the work of loading the dishwasher and control how it’s done, or would you rather have her do it and control how it is done? Those are the only available choices, take your pick.

Oh please…you’re another one of those who thinks this has ANYTHING to do with the actual loading of the dishwasher? Crimonitly!!! Anyone who thinks that the actual loading of the dishwasher is worth getting angry about is a fool.

Again…it’s about a larger issue. The personality flaw that causes someone to believe, despite evidence to the contrary, that their methods are superior, and then causes that person to become *angry *and *confrontational *when asked about it. Asked! In a polite manner! Engaged in conversation about something that may reveal some minor unimportant change that may or may not have to be made to what someone does in a given day! Even if the conversation ended with the dishwasher being loaded in the same exact way it wouldn’t matter…just the fact that the conversation could be held in a civil way would be good enough. BUT IT CAN’T…and there’s the actual problem.

How on earth do people raise children if they can’t discuss simple things they disagree about in a civil manner? How is compromise on a given topic ever reached if you can’t even begin going down that road???

Sheesh…I can’t believe just how little people actually understand about what they read. Or maybe…you just replied to the OP, and ignored all the actual conversation that has been going on in this thread? Try reading between the lines, and extending the benefit of the doubt. If it seems that there is malicious or ignorant intent behind someone’s words, it may just be that you did not understand what they meant because they did a bad job explaining it or you did a bad job reading it.

I thought this sort of behavior was not permitted. Doesn’t the Dope ban slowly moving fishing boats? I guess they have to establish a habit of constantly hitting up the same fishing hole over and over again, moving slowly, hanging rods out the back, occasionally throwing a net over, looking for the same type of fish in the same way. A drive-by fishing tour like this one may be ok I guess.
