This is what I don’t understand about places like Australia where voting is manditory. You know for a fact that a sizable portion of the electorate are just picking a name at random so they can get out of there. How is this supposed to be an improvement over letting the people who don’t care just stay home?
Started a post but I’m just going to leave it at: there are a number of reasons why someone may not vote. I think mainly it’s because most people do not care enough about politics to make an informed decision to vote and don’t want to just pick randomly. And the people who don’t care enough to educate themselves typically don’t care enough to complain too much either, and if they do complain a lot, they’ll probably end up wanting to vote to change what they hate. So it’s not really a problem in my experience, and if it is, it’s a self correcting one.
There are a few problems with this sentiment. The first and most obvious is that sometimes not voting isn’t because someone is too lazy to participate, but exactly because they thought about the issues and candidates and chose not to vote. In my view, a thought out and deliberate non-vote is equivalent to voting in that regard.
Another problem is, what if someone isn’t voting because they have moral objections, and feel that voting, even if their guy doesn’t win, still lends legitimacy to a system they object to. In that sense, I’d say it’s difficult to say you’re upset about who won, and generally those types stick to more generalized objections about how the whole system is corrupt, but it’s still a deliberate non-vote for a thought out reason.
And maybe someone has other difficulties voting for whatever reason. Maybe they didn’t know enough ahead of time they’d have to work all day or would be out of the country and couldn’t get an absentee ballot. Maybe they’re just so busy they didn’t feel confident they were informed enough to reasonably choose between the candidates and obstained, but after someone get’s elected they learn more and dislike that person.
The only time I can really see this having any legitimacy is if someone is just flat lazy. They don’t learn about what’s going on, they don’t make an effort to vote or at least deliberately choose not to vote and it’s not because they’ve got other things going on. It’s the people who make no effort to learn about things, make no effort to change things, and then they catch wind of something just complain about it, but offer no insight into what solution would be better or make any other attempt to fix it. But, really, these types of people are often the least likely to give a crap even if things do suck, they just care about their own life, and may bitch about something when it affects that, but that’s about it.
So, yeah, frankly, it’s something I don’t hear much, and it’s usually from the same people who are all about getting people out to vote, then get upset if those people show an intention to vote for someone other than their candidate. It’s mostly a bunch of noise about an almost non-existent problem.
Non-voters have a right to complain.
The Last X number of elections in which I have voted have given me nothing but shit for a choice. Refusing to vote for the lesser of two horrible evils means that I have no right to speak? Think again, pal.
I pay taxes. I pay for the right to complain, and not vote.

Click them one by one and you will find the option to post a new message. Fill in the subject which will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, and post the article with the NEW list of email addresses included. THAT’S IT!!! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away. After you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup.
HOW THE MONEY WORKS
:
When you post 200 messages in various forums, it is estimated that at LEAST 15 people will respond and send you a $1.00 ($15.00). Those 15 will Post 200 Posts each and 225 people send you $1.00

Use Netscape or Internet Explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.)
Log on any search engine like yahoo.com, google.com, altavista.com, excite.com, etc. Search with the subject "millionaire message board; or; money making message board; or; employment message board; or making money discussions; or; money making forum; or; business message board; etc. You will find thousands & thousands of message boards.
Click on them one by one and you will find the option ‘post a new message’.
Then Post this article as a ‘new message’ by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting copy then paste from the edit menu.
Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button.
You’re done with your first one! It only takes about 60 seconds to complete postings on message boards

IMO, the ones who should not complain are the ones who voted for the problem person, WHEN they were told before the election that this very thing that they are complaining about would happen, told by very smart & knowledgeable people.
When a person votes for a ( whatever ) knowing that along with the good, there will be some very bad, then you are being complicit IMO.
Need to be specific, not just general side VS general side.
Voting for the lesser of two evils is a cop out IMO.
If you are ACTIVELY & PUBLICLY working to get the system changed, ( like to the Aussi one for example or a ( ‘None of the above’ . ) option, then IMO you7 are better than 99% of most citizens.
Me personally, I don’t care much. If you get in a bind because of what / who you voted for, with the foreknowledge that is was VERY likely to happen, I personally will not help you at all.
Only natural resource this planet has too much of is people.
