Most residential glass is, by code, tempered now. Hitting it in the center may not break it, or if it does will cause it to shatter into reletively harmless pebbles. If hit on the edge or corner it will more likely shatter (videos of Prince Rupert’s Drops show this)

Victims of going through annealed (untempered) glass were Sid Vicious, Della Reese, Charles “gladiator instructor in Spartacus” McGraw (fatality), and, according to Kitty Kelley, some broad who lipped off to Frank Sinatra.

I remember one of those “dumb criminals” stories of the son who wanted his mother dead.

He made a point, when reserving a hotel room, that the room be at least as high as the 6th floor.
The hotel had a glass curtain wall - glass from floor to ceiling.

A witness reported seeing someone bashing out a window with a club and dumping something out.

That was the mother. A bloodied baseball bat was found behind a door (good planning!).

It seems the idiot thought he could get mom to walk up to the glass, bash her in the head, and she would crash through the glass. Opps - accident!

Those walls do not use residential-grade single thickness glass.

> Back First, arms tightly at my sides - those things are loaded with lots of veins VERY close to the surface.
> Keep in mind - your blood supply in on the front and on the inward sides. the last thing you want is for your neck (arteries AND veins on surface) to be among the parts enlarging the hole.

This. Above all else, protect your brachial/femoral/carotid arteries. the [brachial artery](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brachial_artery) runs down the inside of the upper arm, so keep your upper arms tightly against your sides. [Femoral artery?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femoral_artery) The inside-front part of your thigh, so keep your legs together, and impact the glass with your side or back. To protect your carotids, hunch your shoulders up to your neck.

Cuts to major veins (e.g. jugular) would also be a problem, but you won’t bleed out nearly as fast as if you slice a major artery.

Yeah, you have to remember that we’re ultimately descended from quadrupeds - our thickest skin is on our back/top, and all the sensitive stuff is on the front/bottom.
