> [@Prof.Pepperwinkle](#): > > It’s this one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSnFICtYkJ0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSnFICtYkJ0). It’s the Main Title instrumental theme to _Inspector Clouseau_, a not-very-good movie with Alan Arkin playing the inspector. My roommate in college had the soundtrack album and played it frequently. To this day I find I can play it in my head whenever I have a bad earworm, and this replaces it, and then goes away shortly thereafter, leaving me happy until the next earworm. As a displacer of other earworms, it’s also hard to beat the original recording of Soul Bossa Nova by Quincy Jones. (It’s been recorded other times, but the killer bass-trombone playing by Alan Raph is an important part of the fun. :)) ---

Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, first movement, Colin Davis recording. (Yeah, I know, everybody raves about the _second_ movement. And Wagner famously called the last movement ‘the apotheosis of the dance.’ But the first movement is pure joy in musical form, AFAIAC. And I’ve got it running through my head often enough as it is, that I don’t think I’d mind if it were always running in my mental background.) ---

If a single song, hmm - I think any would drive me nuts quickly. But if I had to listen to **Kind of Blue by Miles Davis** forever, I think I could manage 😉 [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/if-you-had-to-pick-one-earworm-to-hear-for-the-rest-of-your-life/810604.md?page=2)
