If You Support Gun Control In The U.S., What Do You Want Specifically [Poll]

Does this rhetorical question have anything to do with what I said?

What you said is meaningless.

Comparing different societies is pointless.

Well you got me. Nice refutation.

Actually, the US, as a country, ranks in the 50th percentile for homicide rate per capita (94th of 219; 4.88 per 100K). One may be able to argue that the availability of guns contributes to a higher suicide ratein the US (48th of 183, 12.6 per 100K), but even that is not clear - there are just too many variables.

I said developed countries. Which in fairness means there are some countries which just about qualify (depending on what definition we’re using), and have higher homicide rates than the US. But not many, and those that are do not have GDPs close to the US’.

Yeah, yeah, I have seen those articles. See what you do is define “developed countries” so that nations with low homicide rates are “developed” and those with high rates are ignored, so as to make the point. For example, Mexico is a developed western democracy that happens to have a crazy high murder rate, so it is just ignored. Bogus, sorry.

I voted “Other” … gun registration and allowing the FBI to keep detailed statistics on crimes involving a gun …

Neither of these “gun control” measure interferes with MY right to go down to the gun shoppe and purchase a Glock 30 automatic .45 with that 33 round clip … that pretty lil’ baby has to be registered anyway …

However, these detailed statistics would most probably change many voters attitude towards more stringent gun control laws …

If this is a domestic goose, and you own him, then of course you can wack him with a baseball bat and eat him … if the goose belongs to someone else, then you’ll need that person’s permission …

If this is a wild goose, then you’ll have to follow all the rules and regulations set out by the various governments involved …

I was going to vote, “Ban only certain kinds of guns,” but in my perfect world, all guns would have to be registered the way cars are. It’s can’t be that hard; pretty much every active mobile telephone is “registered” in that it has a unique phone number assigned by a central agency of some sort.

Then again, in my perfect world, everybody understands that registering a gun is not “the first step towards taking your gun away.”

Cars which are not driven on the public roads generally do not have to be registered.

And cell phones most certainly are not, google “burner phone” someday.

I want to respond to this, but I feel the sentence of mine that you quoted is already a response.

That varies by state (the car thing). I believe in my state, if you drive it at all, it must have insurance on it. I just had this conversation with my insurance agent about my daughters car and her moving out of state next year for college - leaving the car behind. We are retaining insurance, because if it manages to leave the garage uninsured (or get stolen) we’ll have a problem.

If you trip on my sidewalk walking up to my house - even if you weren’t invited and are trespassing, my homeowners insurance will still cover you if you break a leg - you are on my property and I’m responsible for my property. If I don’t have homeowner’s insurance, you can sue me.

And for guns, you’d need to insure it if you own it - even if its stolen, you are responsible for insurance until there is a valid transfer in its registration. You need to be responsible for your property.

If you never take it out of the safe, I’m sure the insurance industry will have “collectors insurance” for guns like that. I’m sure there will be discounts for those that never leave private property. I’m sure actuaries will work out - over time - the insurance difference between one type of gun and another, between a gun used for hunting and a gun used for target practice at a range. Between someone who owns one gun and someone who owns six. Between guns kept in a house with children that live there and guns kept in homes of people who don’t have children - even grandkids that visit. Between someone who owns a gun whose brother has a felony conviction for armed robbery and someone whose background check of known associates is clean.

Does this include some kind of chase?

I didn’t know Glock made full auto model 30’s prior to 1986. Where can I buy one?

There was so much wrong with that quote, I couldn’t decide where to start and just threw up my hands.
