If You Were a Voyeurism Victim, Would You Want Investigation/Prosecution?

I would argue that the perv did more than look at pictures. The perv took whatever steps were necessary to acquire the pictures. Those actions have varying levels of intrusiveness, from a camera in a public place to peeking through your window, to sneaking into your house, etc. The crime of voyeurism, in my mind, is not just looking at pictures, but going through all the steps necessary to obtain them.

(Which maybe takes this onto a tangent, but it’s why I feel that looking at unauthorized pictures of naked celebrities is not as reprehensible as the act of taking them.)

I’d prosecute.

Maybe I’m mistaken, but wouldn’t they sensor the photos shown to a jury or whatever? I know someone still has to look at the footage to do the sensoring, but surely they’re not just putting it all out there for everyone to see.

The last case I had dealt with a guy filming other guys pooping in public restrooms. I assure you the videos did not effect me in the same way it did the suspect.

And I don’t know about “a whole lot more people.” Ever here of the Internet? Not all of the pervs keep their products to themselves. That’s a lot worse than a couple of investigators looking. Most of these cases will never get to trial to be shown in front of a jury.

I’m guessing by that you mean that these people have literally raped the privacy of the victim and their family with their photographs and movies… and by the time it got to the cops, the genie was way out of the bottle.
Then maybe I’d want to prosecute this even more than ever.

I’d want it on record and with a conviction that ACME PI Shitheels did X for Y and for pay. I’d want it on record that their client was traced back to be Z and hopefully use the lower prosecution standard of RICO to get Z indicted.
I’d want this on record so that any hosting server has a liability for hosting that data… as well as a specific liability for any person who posts or re-posting those pictures.
If they can be prosecuted for being an accessory to a felony after the fact, I’d want that done.

I’d want the Trade of the person who did this to be hurt… and I’d want ALL of their business partners in this business matter to Know And Share In Their Pain.

I call this Justice. You might call this Punishment. Its still the path of prosecution… and to the very limit that I can encourage Due Process to travel it, I will.

Yep, For mine, I’d just track the trail of vomit…:stuck_out_tongue:
