There seems to be a typo for X:

The " 1" is the odd bit. A little help, please? I’ve long forgotten my hyperbolics and can’t even imagine why they apply here.

It should be “- 1”.

Interesting. It looks like, if you can dedicate 43 years of your life and have a nearly inexhaustible supply of energy, you can reach anywhere in the observable universe. That’s using today’s size for the universe, though. Not sure how big it’ll be, 4B years from now.

I’m also using 4B light years as the radius for the observable universe today, which might not be correct, but close enough for a dope post! :wink:

40 billion would be a lot closer, and even the naive estimate would give you more like 14 billion.
