for me? I would definitly have a scene at a check out counter and on the shelf would be a tabloid with the headline “Elvis is DEAD, Run over by Kenedys Limo”

at some point the word “Frak” would be uttered as a serious insult or exclamation.

I had one more but forgot what it was…I work to much.

anyone else?

One of the characters would buy a drink from a vending machine but one of the coins would slip past and out to the change tray twice.

At some point a character would be silently looking out over a body of water, a lake, an ocean, a sound, not important, and as he is contemplating his life and what he should do… a sea monster raises its head out of the water. They stare at each other for a moment and then the monster dives back down.
A friend of mine once said that if he made a movie it would have a scene where the main character is in an old bookstore and notices a book with his name on it. He looks through it and discovers that it is a victorian novel featuring a character with his name and going through victorian versions of the events of his life. He gets freaked out and puts it back. This scene is not central to the plot and has nothing to do with anything and the scene could be cut if neccessary.

I dunno if it would be considered ‘random weirdness’, but in my daydreams of being a movie director, my ‘Alfred Hitchcock’ type signature would be to include a shot of one of my own paintings in every film I made. They’d never be prominent parts of the story, but they’d be prominently displayed in at least one shot somewhere in the film.

A precedent I’ve already set with music: Somewhere in each movie would be a short scene from The Wizard of Oz. Of subliminal proportions.

In each film I would inlcude 3 penguins, maybe live, maybe pictures, maybe plush toys, but always 3 penguins.

One character in each film will utter the phrase “No one told me about the pig fat.”

My company would be called Three Penguin Pig Fat Productions

A shot of someone taking off their hat, with a clock reading “8:19” in the background.

The “front” organization/business of a villain’s organization in one movie showing up in other, unrelated movies—with the employees obviously eavesdropping on the conversations of any heroes who stop by.

A Superman in every movie / episode!

A character named “Justin Bailey” would appear in every movie I made. Possibly he’d be the same character, but more likely it would just be an army of guys with this name.

Characters in my later movies would reference plot points in my earlier movies as if they happened in real life.

An image of Bruce Campbell would also appear at least once in each movie.

My cousin once worked for a major comic book company as an editorial assistant, or something.

Our grandparents owned a deli way before we were born. Grandma’s name was Florence, it was “Flo’s deli”. My cousin put that on a store front in the background of a Superhero comic. It was so silly and she was declining mentally in her last years it made her smile.

I’d do the same sort of thing in a movie.
