Oddly, it doesn’t matter if you hold the phone right next to your head, use earbuds, or even a speaker.

If this were actually true, then it also wouldn’t matter if someone sitting next to you was using one, or someone in the next room, or on the sidewalk out front, or in a car driving by… It basically says that we need to eliminate all RF in some arbitrary range of frequencies.
