I am elderly and active, both physically and mentally. My friends range from very average folks to those on the high end of the intellectual scale…and all have something to offer. My closest 2 friends are complete opposites - one is a retired law officer. He is a very down to earth type with no interest in intellectual discussions, but has amazing social skills, and our values often match well, as do our backgrounds. So Family, Friends, Cars, and spinning tales make for very comfortable shared times. My second close friend is quite the opposite. He is a retired engineer. We talk about how to fix mechanical and electrical devices, travel, politics, financial planning and so forth. We usually both learn something from our frequent meeting together for lunch or nearby tours. One of the skills that I learned a long time ago was to be a bit of a chameleon. Meaning that I adapt to blend into whatever the social group is about. That is not to say that I loose my identity, but simply use different facets of my thinking and behavior to fit into the other people, and enjoy and gain from that method. It is similar to choosing to think either in logical sequence or to think “free wheeling/creatively”. You don’t have to limit yourself to only one mode. ---

I’ve decided the world is weird. I’m the only normal one. I’d rather spend time with my dog, frankly. But he sleeps a lot. ---
