An offshoot of this thread - [Ever been with a significantly older woman? - In My Humble Opinion - Straight Dope Message Board](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=427327) At 46, I am apparently at the age where I am fodder for younger (18-30) year old men. The larger part of me is flattered; the smaller part of me finds it vaguely unsettling. A friends’ son called me “Mrs Stiffler” - if I wasn’t such a fan of Jennifer Coolidge, I think I’d be offended 😛 Anyway - 1. Do you feel the aforementioned weird and or creepy? 2. Have you ever had a relationship with a younger man that went well? 3. How about the public scrutiny? I fear being laughed at as the old bag with the young stud. VCNJ~ ---

Yes, it’s creepy. Younger men have a hard time hiding moony expressions and stealing furtive glances. You instantly feel stalked and have to leave the room. ---

I’ve never done it, but I say fuck it. Why not go fo rit? Hell, life’s too short and you could end up learning something yourself through a non-traditional bonding. And really, you’d be grinning if you had yourself a young stud, so it doesn’t matter what others would say. ---

It depends on the guy, same as with the older ones. It actually happens to me quite a bit. I’m 36 and look a bit younger, and for some reason I’m like boynip to the frat set. That’s a bit young for my taste (if he’s closer to my daughter’s age than mine, that’s a no go!). Also, in my experience, the younger they are, the less likely they are to realize that it’s customary to buy a woman a drink before you begin humping her leg. But hey, late twenties is fair game, and if I like him, why wouldn’t I? ---

Personally, it irritates me to get hit on by just about anyone. I’m with someone, have been for 6 years and am not on the market. It also pisses me off when people hit on him. I know it’s not entirely rational, many people would have no way of knowing either or both of us are taken. But that’s just how it is. ---

Last year, when I was visiting San Diego, I got picked up by the most adorable 22-year-old guy (I was 36 at the time, but am told that I don’t look my age). He was smart, interesting to talk to, and he had cutest laugh and a _beautiful_… . 🙂 Unfortunately, we didn’t keep in touch, so it’s highly unlikely that there’ll be a planned visit on my next trip out there. But perhaps we’ll run into each other, eh? ---

My friend and I, mid-fifties, got hit on by these two twenty-somethings at a Crosby Stills Nash & Young concert. Now never mind that CSNY should retire. Or that why should 20-sometimes be there acting like it was their music? Our feeling was “Hey, they didn’t look all THAT drunk!” Not creepy, though. ---

I moved in with him. 😛 Seriously though, I think it depends on the guy. My current beau is 11 years younger than I am; however, he looks older than he is (he’s 6’2" so that makes a difference) and I look younger than I am so there doesn’t tend to be much public scruitiny. When I was single I had a younger guy hit on me - like seriously mack on me - at first I was flattered until I found out he was still in _high school_. Yikes - that started to get creepy pretty fast. ---
