Honestly, I don’t have a title preference because I just don’t care. If you want to call me a senior and give me a discount, I’ll take it. Beyond that, meh. But do NOT call me “young lady” EVAR!!! I can’t think of any term more patronizing or obnoxious. When I worked in Florida, starting in my 30s, I found it annoying, despite everyone telling me it was a southern thing. Right. And don’t think you’re flattering me by asking if I’m 29 or 39. I don’t play those silly games. I’m 60. It’s not a judgement or an indictment, it’s just chronology. Hmmmmm, it’s starting to sound like my title should be “grouchy old biddy” 😃 ---

You must have hit the ground running, though. But as I have tried to make clear, the thread title is basically a red herring or a scam to try to get people of a certian mindset to crack open the door and see what (if anything) is going on and if they might want to partake of some merriment with the older set. Seems to be working, even though more than half of us are borderline lurkers! 😉 ETA: Even at Post #232 it might be hard to tell what’s going on! ---

To quote my all-time favorite comedian Jonathan Winters, “Oh, God, let’s see.” So many of the ones I hear (and use) are more universal, non-regional things. As you know, this part of the country prides itself on colorful speech and, as such, traffics in that sort of thing as much as illegal alcohol and other substances. One I use as often as the occasion permits pertains to the physical attrtibutes of certain people (either gender), as in “That person would back a dog off a meat truck – (I’ve also heard gut wagon).” ---

I’ve been doing that sort of thing and I keep finding stuff that’s too commonplace to call “neck of the woods” stuff. The grandparents generation had some doozies, though, so I will continue the theme. This may not be common enough to matter (or else it’s too common) but I love it and use when it fits. At work the president was trying to organize some unofficial activity for the workers and was asking for input. Somebody came up with something that appeared to require some sort of credentials or special talents or whatnot and the president said, “Just as long as they can fog a mirror, they’re good for this.” ---
