I said I laughed over the guy’s tattoo, in a Pit thread, on an anonymous message board. That makes me a liar, huh? I’m marrying someone with 2 tattoos. My brother, SIL, and 2 best friends have tattoos. I manage to get along with them fine and have NEVER had a conflict with them over this. And I have adjusted my opinion of you accordingly. ---

[/QUOTE] One of my funniest tattoo moments was one day when I was working for the Humane Society. I had gone into my artist’s studio to swap out the change collection can we had there. There was a girl in there waiting to get her tongue pierced. I said “I love my tattoos, but I just don’t think I could do that.” She gave me the eye - dressed in an ankle-length dress - and said “_You_ have a tattoo?” So I raised the hem of my skirt. She was flabbergasted. “You look so prim and proper, I never would have guessed you had a legpiece!” There are some tattoos I don’t find attractive. Personally, I find shoulder tattoos on women unappealing; no matter how feminine the tattoo it looks tough to me. I think a lot of people don’t think seriously about the tattoo they get before they get it, and wind up regretting it. I have talked people out of getting tattoos, because getting a neck tattoo when you’re 18 may be “kewl” but when you are 30 you may not be so happy with it. And some segments of society do judge. That is why I chose to get all but one of mine on my legs, because I can wear pants or dark hose and no one knows they are there. If I want to show them, I can do that, too. But I see no point in showing them at a funeral full of little old Mormon ladies! (And damn those black hose were hot that day!) ---

She had no reason to think that ANY person posting fit into the group she was referring to…even if they have Hanji tattoos, given that she never lumped _everyone_ with a Hanji tattoo into the group she was deriding. For that matter, every time someone expresses a negative opinion about anything on the SDMB, they risk possibly insulting another poster…that doesn’t mean that they _intended_ to insult anyone in particular. ---

I mean, she had already stated her POV on the topic, she can’t really go backpedaling and say, “oh, well, I was talking about everybody ELSE, but now that I know YOU have one, I take it all back.” Besides, I read **Dante’s** post as laughing a little bit at himself about the whole thing, and then **Rubystreak’s** as carrying on the joke…I didn’t think it was all that mean spirited. ---
