I didn’t know the origin (if the Urban Dictionary is correct) of this phrase until the other day. I’m curious how many people know where it was first used, without searching. I gotta say, I was tickled to hear it, and surprised that it was so recent. I figured it had been around for a long time, and that it originated on the Dope. Without looking at responses (if there are any), do you know? ---

Spoilering since so far I’m close to the top of the page: I think it’s from Firefly, after Kaylee complains about something sexual (the line about not having had anything “twixt my nethers” comes to mind) and Jayne says, “I’ll be in my bunk.” ---

The proportion of internet users who are fans of Firefly is an order of magnitude higher than the proportion of the general population who are fans of Firefly. That goes up another order of magnitude of you limit the internet users to Dopers. 😃 ---

Okay so we know where it’s from, but there are several different recollections of what prompted it. What’s the actual motivation for \ to say it? Was it \ and her non-twixted nethers or was it \ caught in a sapphic clutch? Or something altogether different? ---
