I'll be in outpatient surgery next week

I’ve been thinking about you, Viva, and hoping things went well. Glad to hear that you’re doing okay. Just continue to take it easy for a bit, at least the gallbladder is finally gone.

Congrats to both of our brave gallbladderless soldiers! Glad all is well.

It might have. They do rupture sometimes, and I should think that would cause a massive infection and peritonitis. Mine had already been pushing stones into the duct and giving me a lot of grief. I had two bad attacks over the past several weeks, and this was a whole year after the first one.

AuntiePam, that’s awesome. I am eating chicken soup, toast, and such today, but the doc said I could have spicy stuff if I want as long as it’s not fatty, at least temporarily.

You know, the incisions don’t hurt nearly as much as that damn carbon dioxide gas they blow you up with. Gaaah! I woke up in recovery looking like Octomom before she blew.

Yeah, fat will go right through ya for awhile. I had to go slow with caffeine too. I gotta have my Pepsi, but more than a few sips at a time and I can feel it.

Did you have a lot of heartburn before? Sometimes heartburn is really gall bladder inflammation/infection or stones. The doc said there could still be underlying GI issues, but that for a lot of people, getting rid of the gall bladder does the trick.

How was yours diagnosed? A CT scan found mine.

I had a great deal of pain and nausea, sometimes shortness of breath and sweating. They ruled out a heart attack and found the culprit via abdominal ultrasound.
Could I PM you with a question about the aftermath of this operation?

Oh, no, you don’t. And wasn’t that fun after thyroid surgery. Sleeping in the recliner was a godsend.
viva, I’m glad you’re doing well. I hope the rest of your recovery is completely boring.
