Gave up on Semantle for only the second time. I have no complaints about the eventual answer, though. On the other hand, I solved today’s Redactle (#20) in 11 guesses with an accuracy of 72.73%. Spotting _Out of Africa_ almost immediately certainly helped. ---

The new one is up. I solved Semantle #88 in 45 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 4.02. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #4. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 22.98. My first hit was at 43/1000 and I should have attacked that word more abstractly…. ---

I solved Semantle #88 in 71 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 13.13. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #67. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 42.28 (937/1000). The word at 43/1000 btw was popcorn, and I also followed with candy at 39/1000. Those have (kind of) a category relationship with the final word, but it did mislead me for a while. ---

I solved today’s Redactle (#20) in 29 guesses with an accuracy of 93.10%. I solved Semantle #88 in 145 guesses with 1 hint. My first guess had a similarity of 14.42. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #35. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 8.10. For Semantle I was stuck down a demographic rabit hole untilI got the hint at 115. Then it was name that vice until I guessed it. ---

I solved today’s Redactle (#21) in 26 guesses with an accuracy of 53.85%. Weirdly, I like getting it quickly, but I also like those times I really have to work at it for a while. ---

I solved Semantle #89 in 120 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 1.29. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #44. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 54.35 (994/1000). I solved today’s Redactle (#21) in 19 guesses with an accuracy of 84.21%. I think I like the harder/more obscure redactles versus these last two. ---

I solved today’s Redactle (#22) in 212 guesses with an accuracy of 53.3%. Wow, did I go down the wrong path. Early on I got 12 hits on western and zero hits on eastern, and also only two hits on religion, and spent the whole time chasing down western philosophies. I have questions about the writing of that Wikipedia article….🙂 ---

This can happen, and it does happen when you start getting those green flags - you get excited, then frustrated when you realize you’re chasing ghosts. I find it helps to pull back now and then and try some random words, it can aid in distilling your mind and put you on a more productive path. (Or you may just keep shooting blanks - it took me over 500 tries, with assists from [Thesaurus.com](http://Thesaurus.com) to solve yesterday’s, and here I thought I’d got it down to a science - nossir, no science to it, you just have to have lots of patience. Lots and lots.) ---

I solved Semantle #90 in 60 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 10.57. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #27. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 49.13 (979/1000). I solved today’s Redactle (#22) in 46 guesses with an accuracy of 73.91%. So with today’s redactle I got 75% of the way on my own, but resorted to going to the source and reading what I could based on the major keywords found until I found the correct article (out of seemingly hundreds in the area) . No google involved. So I didn’t entirely solve the puzzle just on the game page, but I didn’t google anything either. Is it cheating? I do know that the bloody last Incan Emperor puzzle from a while back wouldn’t have been successfully solved without a quick trip to wiki/google to get his actual name. No way would that assortment of letters just spring to mind by random typing. So even getting a googleable phrase means you’ve solved enough to get a toe-hold and I, for one, wouldn’t hold it against you. ---

I solved Semantle #90 in 135 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.46. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #59. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 76.54 (998/1000). Yeah, I actually abandoned ship yesterday on semantle, and today I started with my usual start words of jump, horse and office , but then added food, government and music , which will be my new ones. So… I solved Semantle #90 in 54 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.43. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 76.54 (998/1000). I solved today’s Redactle (#23) in 30 guesses with an accuracy of 80.00%. ---

I solved Semantle #91 in 142 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 20.58. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #24. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 26.73 (548/1000). Not the reult I was expecting given the path of my guesses, totally different word use than springs to mind with the answer. I solved today’s Redactle (#23) in 22 guesses with an accuracy of 77.27%. This is definitely my stronger game. ---

Redactle #24: Got it with a googled phrase after 39 guesses and I ain’t gonna claim this one. Should have been easy to get just on the puzzle page. I solved Semantle #92 in 153 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 11.74. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #9. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 4.70. Did not see it coming at all.
