Am I the only one who gets his glasses from the Lost & Found box at the movie theatre?
Sheesh.
Am I the only one who gets his glasses from the Lost & Found box at the movie theatre?
Sheesh.
That’s about the same with me. I had to get glass lenses once and ended up with blisters on my nose.
The Rx for glasses and contacts are usually not the same strength because they sit at different distances from the eye.
I heard great stories and horror stories from WalMart Optical customers.
The horror stories range from wrong prescriptions, broken frames that they would not repair timely (if at all), and horrible service.
The great stories follow as those above.
The main “thing” I have with chain optical stores is that in order to give you low prices, they often sell discontinued frames. Try to get them fixed if they break. Lenscrafters is by far the worst. I would not recommend my worst enemy to Lenscrafters. shudder.
That said, I have finally broken down and made an appointment with my optomotrist next week. Luckily, I have many frames so if I need a new script I can just do lenses, but LilMiss broke my favorite pair and I have a hard time finding specs I like due to having a wide PD. Sooo… I fear what I am going to end up with. sigh
I used to have a pair of discontinued frames. A few years ago one arm snapped in half when I was thrown from a horse, and when I went to replace it, they said they couldn’t put the same one back on, but they had something similar, which was fine by me. The scrollwork was a little different, but you couldn’t tell unless you were really close up. Anyways, so the lady tells me it’ll cost 20$ to replace one. I tell her I want BOTH replaced, because if it’s not going to match, it might as well not match on BOTH sides! She tells me it’ll be more expensive. I say “no problem”, and she proceeds to argue with me about why I *don’t * want to pay more.
the stupid lady worked on commission too, and didn’t want to make a sale because she didn’t want to spend the extra 5 minutes to replace the other arm. We eventually were able to convince her after her manager came by and asked if everything was alright - suddenly she was willing to help!
Thats my glasses story. I need new ones. I’ll keep Wal-mart in mind for it…
Wow . . . am I the only one who gets their glasses straight from the optomotrist’s office? I’ve never taken my prescription elsewhere.
Really? I wonder why, then, my contacts scrip and my glasses scrip have both been -4.5 for both eyes for years and years? From at least 3 different ophthalmologists?
Kalhoun says:
I’m gonna have to disagree with you on this point. I have to search awhile, but I can usually find a few nice things that are reasonably priced.
Hmm…I don’t know. Am I the only one that popped the lenses out of my broken frames and stuck them in a pair of Dollar Tree frames?
This was after over a year of supergluing the arm and painting them with black nail polish.
Yup, I’m cheap.
Thanks for the tip though!
I always took it as the fact that when you wear contacts, all of your vision improves, not just the 60% area covered by glasses. My prescription has slightly but steadily been getting better since I started wearing contacts 6 years ago. I can easily tell you for sure that it has not been getting worse at any point during my contact experience.
