So the idiots across the street have been setting off their illegal crap, some of it quite explosively loud and sending up plumes of smoke, in their back yard. I was about to phone the cops the other night but my next door neighbor had already done so. The response: “Well, did you actually SEE them do it?” Well, no, since NDN had not physically been in the back yard. But we all know where it’s coming from. I told him I am going to call the next time it happens, which it will, and just say I saw them through their side gate. And no, there was no police action on the above call. Maybe when the aforementioned morons set fire to someone’s roof or yard or the fucking TRANSFORMER which is right next to their property, somebody might pay attention. Maybe. ---

Mini rant. The holiday is Independence Day, not the 4th of July. It just happens to fall on the 4th. No one calls the holiday at the end of December the 25th of December. It’s Christmas. ---

Considering how expensive fireworks are it’s amazing to me anybody other than cities set them off. ---

The ones people set off in their neighborhoods are the kind that are relatively cheap (I gather). I’m terrified of amateur fireworks. Some morons with illegal fireworks nearly burned down our house, one New Year’s Eve a while back. We heard noise, then a whoosh, then a few minutes later our smoke detectors went off. The fire was just outside our back door. An airborn device had gone the wrong way (probably from a quarter mile away), and bounced off the siding by our back door. Had it gone one foot one way, or two feet another way, it would have gone through windows and directly into our walkout basement. As it was, it landed in the mulch in the back garden and started a small fire. The smoke from that seeped into the house, and triggered the alarms. The mulch was damp, so I don’t know huw much longer it would have burned. Our basement… was not damp. The fire marshalkl who came out the next day to do the report was a bit shocked. He noted that the closest that device **might** have been legal was Sough Carolina. BTW - that “statistics” link from last year made my antivirus software very, very unhappy Avoid it. Gonna report it. ---

Barely four weeks until July 4th, and already, some asshole neighbor’s been firing off mortar rounds for hours EVERY SINGLE NIGHT AFTER DARK, all this entire week. Yep, it’s July 4th Season again - and some people are so tickled by that fact, they have to announce to the whole world: _“I’m stupid and spending my whole year’s salary on illegal fireworks! Yeah, it’s dumb and dangerous but Fuck It, This Is America!”_ I swear this shit won’t end until the whole city burns down.
