Illegal to arrest someone on LSD?

While crossing Texas on I40 a few years ago, I was stopped near Amarillo, and I knew why-I’d been speeding. The Officer asked me to step out, and I gave him my cards. He asked me if there were any packages in the car that I was carrying for someone else. No. He asked if there was anything in the car that I knew to be illegal. I held out the keys and said, “If you find anything in this vehicle, you, me, and Avis are going to have a hard sit-down.” He stared at me for a few seconds, then chuckled, and wrote a warning for doing 90 in a 70 zone.

If you’ve got nothing to hide, and are cooperative, Police will not bother you 9 times out of 10, IMHO.

I too have personal experience, from many years ago when I did a few possibly unwise things like acid. I walked all over Boulder barefoot, and didn’t even notice how rough it was on my feet. The next day I could barely walk. LSD made it possible for me to ignore the pain, though I might have felt if it my attention had drifted in that direction.

Not sure if it’s illegal, but an officer should wait til they come down from the high before they arrest anyone, else they’d wind up arresting pink elephants and speeding trees.

Peace.

I have to chime in here and disagree. I think cops are more than willing to purjure themselves if they think it will help themselves or a buddy out. I doubt its a regular thing for most, but if it comes down to defending a bad call at a motor vehicle stop? Sure they will. And probable cause? Ha! I have personally been searched without a good reason, my brother has, and so have many of my friends. Contrary to my nickname here I look like a decent fellow, there was no probable cause and of course they found nothing each time. I could go on and on with personal experiences. Its a bunch of BS, cops can claim probable cause for a search in almost any case, they just have to be prepared to lie a little if it is questioned. Seriously, what cop is going to say “Yes your honor, I searched his vehicle because he talked back to me when I stopped him for no good reason.”
