People can say whatever they want. Adults can use what they say to decide what to think.
Fighting ignorance is not achieved by trying to control what people say or think. We have far too much language policing here already.

We don’t have a list of proscribed terms and don’t plan to start one now. Hate speech means an unambiguous slur; these terms are well known and do not need spelling out. Other terms may be racist, uncivil or otherwise objectionable depending on context; we judge such usages on a case by case basis. If you see a post with terminology you believe violates our rules, please flag it and we will take such action as we deem appropriate. We urge all participants in threads on immigration or any other topic to conduct themselves in a civil manner and refrain from attacks, accusations, and other incendiary remarks. Even in these polarized times, please consider the possibility that you may not be entirely right and those you disagree with may not be entirely wrong.
