I remember when they used to be bigger in circumference with a thicker orangey bit in the middle and thicker chocolate - and! the spongey bit was actually soft sponge. Not so these days. It’s smaller and thinner with a paler harder base that’s only spongey if you dunk it. Now biscuits go spongey or wobbly when you dunk those too. If you buy the store’s own brand (safeway and maybe sainsbury’s?) they do have spongier bases so my argument is that some Jaffa cakes could be considered biscuit. (not that I feel strongly of course) 😉 ---

i remember dodgy pseudo-jaffa cake orange filled choccy bars from sainsburys. my mum always used to put them in my packed lunch and i’d swap them with some kid for three goes on his gameboy. are those the things you are on about? ---
