Yeah, a little blue. My aunt died. She wasn’t close, but it reminded me how age is sneaking up on a whole passel of my relatives. And I have a ton of relatives. 30+ aunts and uncles. Blue. Yep. ---

I totally agree with you, and had it not been for reading this thread, I wouldn’t have mentioned all the “blue” stuff. You advice is almost identical to what I keep telling the other soldiers around here. They are all so down and they just stay in their rooms drinking beer and eating pizza. They never get out. All they do is talk about how many more months or weeks they have left before going back to the states. Not me… I am all about enjoying the ride. I try to get out and do as much as I can as often as I can. I do a lot of stuff during the day too. I actually have a lot of fun out there… but the clubs _are_ a bit lacking. But all the other stuff… and even if I don’t do anything. Just walking around aimlessly, getting on trains, going to unknown places… I have a great time just being out in a foreign country seeing new things. I love it. It’s a free vacation. I just get pissed when something springs up and I lose the weekend because I have to do some detail or pull some shift or something. I hate that!! Then I have to wait another week for a chance to get out. The other thing is the damn curfews. Everytime I stay out past 1am, I risk being arrested, losing rank and losing pay. That sucks!! But it’s worth the risk, I think. ---

And like I mentioned, I only start to miss home during the week. And mainly because I am stuck in the barracks and there is NOTHING going on around here to keep me occupied. When the weekend comes, provided I get to go out that weekend, I have a blast!!! Even at the sucky clubs, I still have a freakin BLAST! But then I have to come back on Sunday evening to the base and lock myself in for another five days… ::sigh:: ---
