Your first dog?? …oh… dogs are so cool! Cats love you… but dogs worship the ground you walk on!! Thats why I like them!
I will admit though… getting through the puppy stage is trial and a half, but the rest of their life is golden. Not that i’m telling YOU anything you don’t know for heavens sake!
I noticed you were gaining a little weight, and that stomach was getting bigger. I thought you were just getting fat!
Did the shots hurt?
Seriously, Michi, I’m glad that things are working out well with Kiwi–I was really afraid you were going to lose her, and that the Limoge I got you would have to be a gift of consolation to you. I’m happy that Kiwi got better and that you’re going to get to keep her.
I am also glad (and surprised, to be honest) that your cats haven’t made a fuss–I remember the issues you had when you brought your last cat, Hootie, home.
I, too, join the others in wanting to see pictures. Not only of your newest, but your whole animal family (that’s five cats, a dog, and two birds, right?).
But as for your not wanting to be a mommy to a human baby :(:
“Lady, you are the cruell’st she alive,
If you will lead these graces to the grave
And leave the world no copy.”
–Twelfth Night, Act 1, Scene v
Kiwi and I have survived another night together. I felt bad having to keep her in isolation all night, but until she stops shedding the virus she can’t be in with the general populace. Once she is free and clear of that damn parvo I’ll be able to keep her where she can see all the action and feel a part of what is going on.
The poor thing needs to be socialized in the worst way. She is scared of everything and everyone. Whenever i approach her, she either runs to the back of her crate or drops to the ground with her belly showing. Every now and again I catch a glimpse of the happy puppy she will one day be, but she has a long way to go.
I can’t wait for this weekend to be over, so I can spend some real quality time with her. She won’t have to spend all her time in a crate or cage and I can work on puppy proofing my place.
One typical dog thing–she has discovered the joys of the litterbox. Gross, but good for the cats. It’ll force me to keep the litterboxes clean every single day, instead of every other day.
Congrats, Cyndar! Kiwi is lucky to have you for a mom. I am impressed with your cats, too. I would have thought they would make a fuss. Maybe they know Kiwi is vulnerable and frightened, though, and they must be secure with you or they would be raising a ruckus.
Now that I am a new mom I find myself wanting to buy everything dog related. There is a gourmet doggy treat kiosk in the mall, and I wanted to buy her one of every kind of treat they had! I want to buy her every toy I see. I want to buy anything that has to do with Aussies. I browse the net looking for Aussie pictures. My cats never inspired this kind of frenzy in me, although I certainly love my kitties and still consider myself more of a cat person than a dog person.
Well, gotta go see what Kiwi is doing, I think I heard her tip her water bowl.
Michi, I’m really very happy for you and Kiwi, especially considering that not too long ago, it looked like you might lose Kiwi.
I wonder why it is that you’ve never been so frenzied about any of your cats, unless having a dog is a new experience for you. Did you have a dog when you were a kid?
Anyway, I think we’d still like to see pictures of Kiwi–and actually Michi’s whole wild kingdom.
I’ll continue to read your Livejournal in the meantime, of course, to keep up with you and yours.
[sub][Hijack] Though, dear heart, you’ve really got to stop writing things like:
“Bought some vaggie sushi at the store…yummm…I love that stuff. And it is so good for me!” (emphasis mine)
I mean, the thoughts that run through my head…[/hijack][/sub]
Congrats, Michi. I’m sure you’ll be a great dog-mom!
If you wonder how a cat-mom feels about having a dog, check out the “I don’t get dog-people” thread. I’m a cat person, but you know what? I absolutely adore my precious mutt.
Well, I’m really in a bad mood right now, and it is dog related. Go see my LiveJournal for an explanation, cause I don’t have the energy to say it all again here.
Hey - we do not need to go to agility!!! We Aussies are just fine the way we are. As for puppy school - well it did nothing for me at all - I am still untrainable (except the toilet training bit - I managed to work that out myself.)
Last night at work we had a purebred Aussie, for parvo, no less. The puppy was absolutely gorgeous, I wanted to take him home immediately…but then the barking started…and did not stop…all friggin’ night…Whatever Kiwi is mixed with, must be a laid back breed, thank the Lord. Even when Kiwi plays she does it without a lot of barking.
And Kiwi learned a new trick last night…she is no longer afraid to get out of the car on her own. I still have to pick her up to get her in it though.
And Wyld…glad to know you got the potty training thing handled.
