Now, granted, I just caught a description of this on NPR so maybe I misheard - people douse themselves with ice-cold water in order to AVOID donating to the ALS foundation? ---

Officially the dousing is if you want to avoid a $100 donation. You are still supposed to donate but the dousing allows a smaller donation. I guess I’m outing myself as a fellow piece of shit, but I find the idea sort of played out too. Recognizing that it’s all good fun for a good cause and whatnot. I tend to be quickly annoyed by viral videos in general, though. And I’m, you know, a piece of shit. ---
