I discovered this myself when I mistakenly used the term “Inuit” in a conversation with an Inupiaq associate. He kindly informed me that the movement promoting the notion of “Eskimo” as a derogatory term is in fact a cultural conspiracy on the part of “those Inuit bastards.” ---

Every eskimo I’ve every known refered to themselves as “eskimo”. Sometimes they’d say, “I’m Yupik eskimo”. Or “native”. Credentials: I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska. ---

Fair is fair, **tom** was the second to post that link, **bup** (IIRC) was first. but yes, I believe the probability of **Clothy** revisiting a thread he started in approaches zero once it’s demonstrated once again that he’s full of shit. Now that I think about it, we probably don’t need to worry about anthrax being distributed through the mails ever again, do we? I feel safer already. How the hell did I ever muster the courage to leave the house before the Homeland Security Advisory System was instituted? Maybe if we’re really lucky, Bush will be able to ensure that we’ll never have to worry about a nuclear attack on a major metropolitan area ever again, either. ---
