So…Mick’s people planned ahead and booked a suite because they knew he would be touring. Was this summit called at the last moment or did Mr. Cheney forget to book the rooms early? Lighten up, **Humpy**. “Our” president is an accomplished international buffoon. It would be wrong to not sneer at him with the same venom as he demonstrates to us every day. He doesn’t give a shit about his constituency. oubly so for those of us without means or connections. Him having to get behind someone of Mick’s breeding because his own team dropped the ball is only the beginning of the torment he deserves for the remainder of this life. He’ll be lucky if his torments are limited to humiliations such as this. Bush is a walking bullseye these days. He should be booking rooms at military bases for his own security anyway. ---

I would think that the organizers of your average elementary-school field trip could put together a backup plan without being thrown into disarray. ---

Now **DerTrihs** , I know you’re irritated by the asinine OP, but that’s no reason to be innaccurate. The motto of the SDMB is fighting ignorance, after all- and therefore, posting an incorrect fact in your post is disappointing. I agree that the posters who revelled in this action were out of line: they should have been still more exuberant, given how rarely Bush is reminded he doesn’t live at the centre of the Universe. Heh. While I was writing this post, Sympathy for the Devil came up on my shuffle! Now there’s an appropriate soundtrack. ---

Say what you will about him, some people like his music, and last heard he wasn’t responsible for killing tens of thousands. I personally am _appalled_ at the thought of the President and his entourage forced to stay at the Vienna Motel 6, not getting enough clean towels and having the ice machine break down. “I’d like to leave a wakeup call for 6 tomorrow morning. That’s Mr. Bush in room 410. George Bush. B-U-S-H.” We should also demand an accounting of any in-room movies. The Republican National Committee has to pay for porno flicks. ---

I read the other thread, and the article it links to, and I see nothing arrogant about it, unless you consider the refusal itself to be arrogant. In which case, then you do indeed seem to be arguing that he has some right to the room over private citizens who reserved the room beforehand.
