Greetings, fellow Dopers! I have endured my personal purgatory of starting a new job, sitting for another Bar exam, and moving everything I own 600 miles. I guess I’m bloody but unbowed, though the exam in particular is kind of like paying to get kicked in the head. The most controversial banning was Silo. Some speculated that he was the hacker. But nah, wasn’t him. Also, FarmerOak was banned, but you didn’t know him. We had a great [Dopefest in San Luis Obispo](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=78884) recently. I recommend reading about that one (but I’m biased). We’re having an [international Dopefest in LA October 19-21](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=79371). You should come down for that. Welcome back! ---

And a new CD (_American Guitar_, by Pat Donohue). And Mrs. Pluto and I are going on a trip right after Labor Day to Yellowstone Park and Lewis and Clark Caverns. Oh. You meant about the board. I dunno. Nobody tells me anything. Same old same old I guess. ---

There have been like a billion and three legal threads since your disappearance and I kept holding out hope that you’d touch down in one of them and sort the whole mess out. But instead of helping out perfectly random strangers, you felt it more important to actually study for an insanely impossible exam and further your career? Fine. Whatever. Priorities, woman! There was this one day where someone got an email saying that if he forwarded it to 17 of his friends, Bill Gates would give them all a million dollars. So, everyone who was on the SDMB that day forwarded it around, and we all got a million dollars each. That was a great day. Other than that, not much else has been happening. 😃 Welcome back! ---

Well, I did a search on the whole Silo banning thing; can’t say I was sorry to miss that one. **Strainger** , I’m going to see if I can’t swing a trip to LA for the DopeFest – I’d love to go. 🙂 **Pluto** I _love_ John McPhee – if you get a minute e me with whether or not you think the book’s worth buying. I never took you for the Chandra Levy type, **Maeglin** – I see you as more of a petite blonde, partial to sling-back Manolos. 😉 I’m in Seattle now, **Beatle** , misusing the resources of a private sector employer to cruise the Board. I think I’m really going to like it here, once I have a chance to catch my breath and look around. I swear I’m addicted to this place. Going without for eight weeks was suprisingly tough; I keep wondering how everyone was doing and what everyone was talking about. I’m so happy to be back I’d cyber-hug you all, but I’m not _that_ far gone. I mean, we’re not pickin’ out curtains. ---
