No, Ogre, it is what you said in black and white _initially_ (leaving aside what you have now said by way of clarification) that I had a problem with. Since then, you and your cheersquad have been telling me that what you said in black and white wasn’t actually what you meant, and that this was obvious from the get go. Allegedly. Well OK. Whatever. But the point for present purposes, Ogre, is that I’m all done with you. I think your position is now clear, I disagree of course but you’ve clarified things to an extent I’m happy with. The difficulty is that your cheersquad is still taking me to task over my response to your first post (which you have since clarified). You and I have moved on. Someone else has not. ---

I’m mystified. You were still arguing with my very first post as recently as four posts ago, even though I had refined, clarified, emulsified, and pureed it a dozen times since then? Wha? And I don’t have a cheersquad. I doubt if mine and **Miller** ’s or **andros** ’s paths have crossed 10 times since I joined this board back in 2000…and a couple of those times (in **andros** ’s case,) were arguments, IIRC. I just think they understood what the heck I was saying from the start. ---

Yes, in response to Miller. Not you. You had by then long since stated where you are at. By “cheersquad” I meant Miller, and I’m only referring to this thread, I’m not literally suggesting he’s a member of a cheersquad going back any further than that. It’s just hyperbole, don’t take me too literally, that would be bad, right? ---

Perhaps when Ogre uses hyperbole (bullshit actually, as he has never denied) he should get used to taking his lumps. In fact, it seems to me he is. It is only his whiny cheersquad who still has a problem. ---

Ye gods, what a bloated corpse of a thread. Consider this, then, to be a formal denial. It is not “bullshit.” It is an innocent, conversational idiom that you have chosen to hang all your hopes and dreams for a better, brighter universe on, for some insane reason. It is precisely as innocent as: “Being dumped? _Everybody_ knows what that’s like!” or “_Everybody_ knows the sky is blue because of moon pixies!” or “_Nobody_ listens to Grandmaster Flash anymore!” In each case, it is understood that the casual generalizations do not, in fact, cover everyone. Just because you continue to have your panties in a wad over the WMD issue is no reason for me to make sure I speak Extra. Super. Duper. Carefully, when the main thrust of my argument doesn’t even hinge on the statement you have so damn much problem with. Read that again. **My argument about Kerry had nothing to do with whether “everybody” thought there were WMDs in Iraq at the time.** I could have left it out and not changed the thrust, meaning, or demeanor of my sentiment. God knows, after this zombified, pedantic mess, I wish I had. No, fuck that. I will _not_ edit my style of expression, when it’s perfectly clear that, apparently, _no one_ but you has a problem with it. You can continue to argue with me about it. We are stuck in a two party system. I voted Nader last time, just trying to get him the 3 or 5% that he needed to get federal funding this time. I liked Bush, until i realized what a corrupt admn. it is. I fear Kerry will be the same. The reason I will vote Kerry is that he and his admn. will be under a microscope, no more fisting of our civil rights. If the population votes Bush in again, I feel the damage may be irreverisble. (sp) ---

We’ve been over this. Your exaggeration/bullshit/hyperbole whatever you want to call it was made to support your argument. I called you on it. Your argument didn’t make half as much sense when your bullshit was toned down. You put your bullshit into your post because it was a significant plank in your argument, else why say it? It certainly seemed to make sense to everyone else. Hell, even the usual WMD suspects, the ones that sniff that expression out amongst the boards like a shark after chum, weren’t upbraiding me over my use of a casual expression. This speaks volumes about your pedantic nature, and about your ability to parse simple English idioms.
