I'm Bewitched. Oh, them Stevens!

Waitaminite, if witches and warlocks are immortal in the Bewitched universe, then why does Endora (as well as Samantha’s Uncles and other relatives of a previous generation) look older than Sam, and not the same age? And if immortal witches and warlocks are reproducing, wouldn’t that mean that the universe would eventually be overrun with them?

Maybe they aren’t immortal, just very long-lived, and they age very slowly. That makes more sense. But, say Samantha was 500 years old and looked like a human in her 20s. Does that make Endora around 1000 years old, and that she had Samantha when she was around 500? Does witch / warlock childhood last for hundreds of years then? That would make the many diaper-changing years pretty unbearable. Oh wait, you’d just wriggle your nose, and diaper changed. Not so bad then, I guess. And use a magic spell to mute them through the decades-long adolescence.

The dialogue has been excerpted, but here’s a few panels of Berni Wrightson’s National Lampoon “Bewitched” spoof (probably NSFW):

Panel #1 – We found a witch, can we burn her?
Panel #2 – Sam and Endora sacrifice a Girl Scout to the demons in the background
Panel #3 – Caught in the act.
Panel #4 – Here comes Durwood.
Panel #5 – Consorting with witches gets you this.
Insert Panel #5 – “Next, Tabitha’s revenge!”

In the episode with the antique portrait (“The Maid of Salem,1682”), Endora says to Samantha “Durwood must accept that with us, aging is a process that takes centuries.”

Turns out there are some lively discussions of this topic on Bewitched fan sites. One says Endora is at least 3000 years old.

Trivia Challenge: Which actor of the period played Darrin as a boy?

Kurt Russell? He was everywhere back then.

The cars of Bewitched! Camaros and corvettes yeah!

Good guess, but no. This actor was best known for a TV role.

Wasn’t he in Twilight zone?

Or Lost in Space?

Both!

Yay! I knew something. I didn’t know his real name.

Billy Mumy, aka “Will Robinson.”

Another Trivia Challenge: What unique item was featured in episodes of Bewitched, Star Trek, Batman, and Mission: Impossible?

I’m gonna assume it wasn’t a tricorder

Tribble?

Sorry, no. Much larger than a tricorder.

Or a tribble.

Something to do with NASA?

Sorry, I misread your first reply. Yes, it was neither a tricorder or a tribble. But it might have been mistaken as something from NASA.

I’m sure Samantha would disguise herself to age at a human rate as long as she and Darwin were married. For that matter, how do we know she didn’t to make herself more attractive to Dumbo?

The Desilu water tower?

Yes, she could do both things. Then she’d face the problem of letting Darrin die of old age and moving on to a new life herself.

Immortality is such a bummer! :frowning:

I’m going to say Vasquez Rocks.
