I know there is a Kardashian named Kim. I know she has been on TV and there is something about “keeping up” with them. I would not recognize a Kardashian from a picture. The name Taylor Swift has been in the news the last couple of days regarding streaming. I know nothing else about her. I lie not. I don’t live in a cave but being over 50 is sort of like a cave. ---

Kim Kardashian’s the fetching brunette on the cover of all those magazines they want me to buy at the supermarket, right? Good looking woman, but I don’t read gossip rags so my knowledge of her stops right about there. I don’t know who Taylor Swift is or what she sings, so it probably involves cowboy music. I don’t listen to cowboy music. ---

Count me in as being that sheltered. It’s been only 1 week that I’ve known anything about the Kardashians outside of a vague name awareness that they might be actors or singers or something. Mrs Gargoyle started filling me in on them, their money, Kanye, Bruce Jenner. I seriously thought she was having me on. “Wait…Bruce Jenner the Wheaties guy? And the rapper that stole Taylor’s trophy speech?” It is too unreal. ---

My knowledge of the Kardashians and Taylor Swift are mainly because of second hand references. I see the Kardashians in skits in SNL and when people here talk about how much they hate them. I wouldn’t necessarily recognize any of them in an unidentified photo. I know Taylor Swift is a very popular pop star. I just tried listening to some of her stuff on youtube to see if I recognized any of it. It all sounds so generic that nothing stood out as something that I had heard before. I no doubt have heard it in the background in airports or bars but I couldn’t say which. Of course I’m not exposed to celebrity news or to pop music much here in Panama. I mostly see and hear it when I’m in the US a few weeks a year. ---

Until about a month ago, I did not know that there was more than one “Kardashian”. I cut and pasted that because I do not know how to spell it, and do not care to learn. The Swift person I heard of yesterday in regard to her dispute with Apple over royalty payments. I still have no idea why anyone should give a whit about a “Kardashian”. And I don’t do “social media” either. ---

I honestly couldn’t pick a Kardashian out of a line up of mock celebrities. When news of Bruce/Katelyn Jenner came out I was suppressed to learn they were related. I’d only known Jenner as an athlete. I know Taylor Swift and can probably identify a song on the radio as hers.
