One year I worked for a large (12-14,000 employee) multi-state, publicly-traded company. They gave out customized company logo-engraved Christmas tree ornaments. With that many employees, this was not a little expenditure & had to be approved by someone senior enough to have that kind of spending authority. I’m sure someone at corporate was fired as it caused much consternation, at least in our 500 person location. I remember talking to one admin (who just happened to be Catholic) who didn’t get it. Her: “I’m not hanging it on my tree, I don’t want work reminders on family/faith items on my big holiday” Me: "Pam, that’s your choice to hang it on your tree, but the point is you _have_ a tree to hang it on. You could see her facial expression change as it sunk in Her: “Oh my Gaawwwd! That’s so wrong! I’m going to HR & complain on their behalf…” The next year we were given a catalog of [del]crap[/del] interesting & useful items that we could choose ourself. I chose the AC powered tire inflator. One day I noticed my tire was low, so I plugged it in & started to [del]inflate[/del] _deflate_ the tire. It was such a piece of \_\_\_\_ that it couldn’t inflate the tire unless you raised the car up on a jack. It actually was causing the tire to lose air while it was ‘inflating’ (& yes, between first job at a gas station & being a cyclist, I have probably inflated 1000+ tires, I _do_ know how to do it properly.) ---

Just got an email with directions to the party on Sat, and since it was addressed to a bunch of folks, I guess the host was just slow in getting them sent out. So I feel semi-loved again. Plus I saw some of the others who will be there and I’m looking forward to seeing them. Yay! ---

I do know many here are former or retired Navy, including most of the boss-types. And I don’t think we employ non-citizens since we’re a gummint contractor occasionally doing classified work. the singing figure is actually a little girl in Victorian garb with her eyes closed and her mouth open in an easily misinterpretable way - she’s the favorite of my supervisor - perhaps I’ll take a pic of it so you can see how creepy it is ---

The hams have arrived, and they also got a few smoked turkey tits and beef briskets. I grabbed one ham and one turkey tit, since \*\*FCD \*\*isn’t here to claim his. Now I just need to find space in my freezer. Ho ho ho. Almost lunch time - yay! I’ve completed 2 drawings already and I’m almost done a 3rd - go me!! \*\*rosie \*\*- can’t wait to see your creepy angel. 😃 ---

Speaking of food, it’s been a long time since I’ve done sunrise beerverages but there are [del]rules[/del] laws against putting all 12oz of [del]the[/del] each bottle into the each smoker. Can’t wait for lunch (which has now been moved up.) Grrr! Oh, you know how you’re sup’osed to take food out of the fridge to let it warm up before cooking? Well there was frost on the ground when I started cooking, which means the fridge _was_ the warm place. :rolleyes: ---

I finally admitted defeat last night, and turned the heating on. I could see my breath in my bedroom, so figured it was probably time… The frost didn’t melt outside today, which might not seem cold to some o you lot, but trust me, in houses with ‘insulation’ like we have, it is. Got my last pottery session tonight, I don’t think I can afford to go next year, so it might really be my last, at least for a while ☹ Will be niiice and toasty in there though, with the kiln an’ all. She won’t let us try and make mulled wine in it though, no fair. ---

This morning at about 8:30 daycare called to say my little girl was sick. So hubs went to pick her up. She had thrown up right before they served breakfast. He gets her home, I wake up, and she looks fine. She is bouncing all over the house. Sick indeed. 😛 ---
