Muc as you have your opinion about illegal drugs, or rather the illegal _use_ of drugs **Oldscratch** I too have mine and they happen to be largely opposed to yours. This is not really in tune with the OP but I’ll put in my tuppence worth anyway. I assume that by using drugs illegally you obviously mean in a controlled manner and do not advocate the extremes, the results of which I witness every day of my working life. You may accept that certain drugs such as hallucinogenics can excarcerbate underlying mental conditions but the problem comes in that some of those who are damaged by them have no awareness of any potential problem - even doses that might be considered safe for others can be harmful, that is no differant to ‘medicinal’ drugs but the differance is that we are talking of personality disorders caused in the pursuit of pleasure rather than as a byproduct of medical treatment. You may indeed have lots of control but I read the records of hundreds of those who thought likewise, and they ended in jail not necassarily for taking the drugs themselves but by their actions either to obtain the means to purchase them or their activities when tripping. I truly believe that we will always take mood altering substances, we simply are not going to change thousands of years of history nor is there any need to but trying to compare sucrose with heroin, crack cocaine, morphine et al(which I think someone was trying to hint at in a very loose way) or any of the synthetic and even more potent variants of these is like trying to compare a sea breeze with a hurricane, it does not really give much weight to your argument. Sure prohibition of drugs is wasting lives in many ways and is pointless in certain types of drug but the damage I witness cannot be swept under the carpet, every serious drug user I meet thinks they are right and the whole world is naiive and wrong, it just comes with the territory. Where do you think the line should be drawn in practical terms or do you think that all drugs should be freely available to anyone, anytime, anyplace? I guess this post is not very pitworthy and as such does not belong here, see you in GD when someone, inevitably, bring the issue up again (and still changes nobody’s point of view 🙂 ) ---

I guess you hadn’t seen the recent news articles that came to the conclusion that heroin and cocaine are actually THREE TIMES CHEAPER than they were in 1981, when Reagen first started kicking the WoD into high gear. You know **coldfire** if you are going to mention my name in a bbq pit thread you could at least flame me a little bit, or, better yet explain how I went “over the top” in a way that is beyond the pale of how people go over the top all the time on this board. I never used derogatory or inflammatory language with the minor exception of turning one word “dickhead” back on the original user of that term. Frankly i think you lumped me in here because I agree with **Scratch** on a point or two and my preference for debate is more akin to a hand grenade than you might like. Also you make it apparent that you have sympathy for **Guano** , which I can understand as it is admirable to be an underdog, which he so clearly was in that debate. Well if you feel the need to mention me again in the pit and do so without at least some harsh and enjoyable language then you can just lick my tiny rice-sized penis for making me feel left out because mentioning me in passing makes me feel like a damned sidekick and that, I assure you, I am not. **coldfire** Well of course I was trying to get a rise out of him! Duh. However, if you mean was I trying to incite him into a fit of childish responses to pointed questioning then you misunderstand. I echoed **Scratch** because he was in the process of using the most dramatic and direct comparison to draw out a conclusive and final statement on law being the final guideline of morality and being pointedly ignored on the (contrived, IMHO) grounds that his questioning was a personal attack. I was curious specifically if the person stating that breaking the law was interested in retracting that statement upon being reminded that the law is not always or even usually moral and is quite often contrary to morality. The issue of slavery seems to be such a noteable marker for this thought that my echoed question would seem obvious. Had **Guano** (note that while I abbreviate I do not alter. On that form I disagree with **Scratch** ) simply stated either one of two things I would have left off. Either he could have retracted his absolute judgement of the morality of law or re-affirmed it by stating that slavery and every other rule of man is just and moral at the time and place of application. Without such qualification our **responsibility** to enlighten is left unfulfilled. After all, in order to _educate_ it is oft nessisary to point out and _ **shatter** _ the illusions that the one in need of enlightenment holds to be true. By illustrating the corner **Guano** was painting himself into, I feel I was doing just this. Of all the folly’s of man **hypocracy** is the most vile and yet seductive. p.s. Thank you for implying that I may be an **ass** as it is at leas **almost** a flame. Weak effort, but at least some effort and akin’ to my statement regarding those who call others a _dickhead_. almost identical, in fact. ---
