I'm doing it, dammit!

Zaphod- Cool name.

Good luck on the quitting. I know it’s tough, get some excercise, that seemed to help me. Mark Twain once said “Quitting smoking is the easiest thing in the world… I’ve done it a thousand times!” If you bread down and start smoking again, just try to quit again- I know that one of the contributing factors in me quitting was practice, practice, practice. Also, don’t beat yourself up over faltering- you’ll probably just want to smoke more. Definately get some walking shoes- the walking keeps you busy enough to not think about smoking, and the natural excercise high doesn’t hurt either.

I’m pulling for you Zaphod- and not just because both our usernames are from the same work of fiction.

Congratulations and Good luck!!

I quit by the cut back method. I didn’t think i had enough will power for the cold turkey method either. I had 5 a day, 4a day 3 aday etc…

It is ok to use, but their is that day where you have to go ‘cold turkey’ and quit all together. I suggest marking a day on your calendar now that you plan to have your last cigarette, and follow through.

Always remember you’re doing this for a good reason. If you get down, write a pro/con list of cigarettes to remind you of the good reasons.

Here, I hope that this helps with your quitting. I quit smoking 5 1/2 years ago.

Congratulations on your decision!

Just a note, going from 30/day to 3/day is a big move, I’m glad that you’ve been successful in staying within that limit. Since that is such a big move, it may take awhile for this new habit to settle in. You may be advised to stay with 3/day for awhile (at least until you feel like 3/day is a regular habit) before you try to cut down further. It will probably make the transition to fewer easier.

I wish you the best of luck!
