Of course, Microsoft’s Bing is an alternative to Google’s search engine, but I don’t know if you’d like it any better.
I understand they moved to defaulting to showing “shopping” results (or at least more of them) instead of regular web search results a while ago. Tried searching for waffle iron reviews/best waffle irons lists - no reviews, just for sales. Even when searching Victorian era clothes and the like it’s ads. So many things I just cannot use Google for because I want to research, not buy. So, been using other search engines more. Also downloaded a Firefox add-on to go directly to web results - which still uses the company, admittedly, so doesn’t properly incentivize them to change.
And love homepage ads for crypto and NFTs.
Despite Google’s enshittification, it’s got nothing on the utter uselessness of Bing’s search engine. I’m forced to use that at work, and its incompetence at providing useful search results is astounding.
Bing, fries are done
Yeah, nope, I can’t use it.
My issue is that Google continually edits my searches to what it thinks I want. I’m not a dumbass. I want this word spelled this way. I want that word in my search. That’s why I f’ing typed it that way.
I’d say Cromite is a good everyday browser and it has adblocking built in.
I personally use Mull which is a Firefox fork. I’ve heard it’s not good for everyday use but you can try it if you want.
Mull: Mull | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
I personally haven’t used Google anything in years other than for Lyft. I get all my apps on F-droid.
It’s because they searched for “1 followed by 100 zeros” but Google brand toilet paper was the first sponsored link.
