When my parents had people over we would have the leftover dessert for breakfast the next day. Or we would have leftover birthday cake the next day. That may be where I got the habit of pouring milk over cake; it would make it more like cereal. 🙂 And once I had a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey for breakfast. Hey, it has banana, just like cereal can. ---

This reminds me of a Jim Gaffigan bit on cake… Goes something like this? Who said you can’t have cake for breakfast? what about muffins? Who are we kidding? It’s just a bald cupcake. What about pancakes? ‘Dad can I have cake for breakfast?’ ‘Cake, oh hell no, you’re having fried cake with syrup. Why don’t you eat that and try not to nap’ ---

Sometimes when my sister is visiting my mom will make what we call “junk supper.” Basically you get out all the junk food you can find and have an all-you-can-eat buffet. It’s great fun. ---

I haven’t had a banana split since drug store soda fountains disappeared. I loved them. And one fountain in my home town made one with a grand flourish and called it a Chocolate Marshmallow Banana Nut Smash. ---
