She doesn’t seem to have been a total non-player, if they have a kid and grandkids in common and if she’s connected enough to have been aware of what’s going on; what makes me a bit twitchy is the further-reaching effects of being married vs. being single on someone with a degenerative condition. It’s something my mom is currently facing as my dad sorta falls apart bit by bit, and something that’s always on my mind with Mr Kitty’s condition. If my parents, married nearly 50 years, have to seriously consider whether divorce is the best course of action if dad has to go into an assisted living center, then I struggle with why folks would consider getting married under similar conditions. Heck, nothing wrong with shacking up- she still gets POA, he gets a live-in companion and caregiver, and no one loses their shirt when/if the time comes where more intensive care is needed. Or is that too new-fangled an option? ---

I have to say I do share some of **Oakminster’s** concerns and reading your recent blog entries didn’t help allay those concerns. I sincerely hope it’s just my pension for worrying and nothing more. It just seems quite sudden is all, I guess, but it may just seem that way because we’re not privy to the day-to-day details of your life and this may be a natural evolving of an ongoing relationship.
