I'm going to Disneyland!

I think all the restaurants in California Adventure sell beer. Alcohol is easy to find there. Now if you want a drink while in Disneyland, you need take the monorail (or walk) to Downtown Disney (or find a way into Club 33).

Is that that famous bar is Disneyland what can’t be found, except by them who knows where it is?

When you say they sell “beer”, do you mean like Budweiser or something, or do they actually sell real beer?

Thanks for all the info everyone! Only… counting on fingers about 19 hours till we land. Which reminds me of another good question: what time does Disneyland open? Like 10?

Disneyland hours this week are 9am-8pm weds and thursday, 9am-midnight friday. CA Adventure is 10am-6pm weds and thursday, 10am-9pm friday.

It’s easy to find. It’s in New Orleans Square near Pirates. But you can’t get in without being a member.

9am weekdays. 8am weekends. California Adventure opens at 10am.

Not a bar but a restaurant. Not hard to find if you’re know where you’re looking (along one of the alleys in NOSq), the discreet sign is on the door. It’s getting in that’s tough.

Ah, got it.

9AM? Sweet! I thought we were going to have to kill a bunch of time as our plane lands 7:30 and we’re going to catch the 8AM shuttle to the hotel.

So excited!!!

I believe all brands of beer- not just Bud, but others. Walt forbade alcohol from being sold in the Magic Kingdom, and the company has kept that tradition- other than the aforementioned secret Club 33, the only places you can buy alcohol in Disneyland are in California Adventure and Downtown Disney. (Same thing with Disney World- you can find alcohol in Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, etc., but not in the Kingdom.)

Forget the idea of going to Club 33 and buying a beer. By the way, the entrance is right next to the exit from Pirates of the Caribbean and the entrance to the Blue Bayou restaurant. Club 33 is a members-only private club with an initiation fee in excess of $10,000, and a waiting list of several years to join. If you have a well-connected friend who’s already a member, he (or she) can sponsor you as a guest, of course.

There’s a nice little sit-down restaurant halfway down Main Street, U.S.A., called the Carnation Cafe. Prices are far better than they are at the Blue Bayou (the only other table-service restaurant at Disneyland Park), and while the menu is somewhat limited, the service is friendly and efficient. Also in contrast to the Blue Bayou, the quality of the food is not outstripped by the prices*. It’s also a good way to have a nice view of any parades that pass by (most days, there will be one or two).

*It’s possible that I’m being unfair to the Blue Bayou. It’s been a good twelve years since I’ve eaten there, but this is because I was disappointed in the quality-to-cost ratio, something that I had not experienced as a problem during the '70s and '80s.

When they made the changes to Pirates, they did a big upgrade on the Blue Bayou. I haven’t eaten there since then, but I hear the food is much improved.

We’re expecting a trip report,

I love this thread. Hopefully I’ll remember to post more here, but this is all I have time for now.

Yes, do that the first time you’re there, and after that you can go on rides during the fireworks because the lines are shorter because a lot of people are watching them. You’ll want to stay in one area because the crowds make it hard to get around. I’d say maybe stay in New Orleans Square and go on Pirates and the Haunted Mansion several times, or go to Tomorrowland and go on some of the rides there.

They are, in fact, spectacular, but you get a better view of them from the roof of the Mickey and Friends parking garage. The extra elbow room makes up for not hearing the music, IMHO. Showtime is 9:30 p.m., and make sure you get your hand stamped so you can re-enter the park. The shuttle there and back is free.

But you miss the effects on the castle from there. And I think the music is pretty important.

Well, I guess it’s a matter of priorities. 30-year old kaylasdad99 probably would have agreed with you; 50-year old kaylasdad99 places a higher premium on not getting smothered.

Happy Birthday, NailBunny! Hope you’re having a blast.
