You like me. You really like me!!
I just got the email address for our friend and will ask her a ton of questions of how far and whatnot as the really only budget we have is mula.I will be completely happy wandering around and hitting the book stores, flea markets and antique places. I’ve been to the Harrod’s in Frankfurt Airport and thought the prices were bend over, I’m sure their HQ store isn’t any better.
Lissa,
England really has mild weather all year round. We don’t get tornadoes, hurricanes (well just one about 10 years ago - people still talk about it) or similar.
Winter (Dec - Feb) sometimes snows temperature 0-5 Celsius
Spring (Mar - May) + Autumn (Sep - Nov) windy
temperature 5-10 Celsius
Summer (May - Jul) bright, but still rains
temperature 10-20 Celsius
We’re quite Northerly, but the Gulf stream keeps the temperature up. Oh and London is crowded, so that helps keep you warm.
Bring a raincoat or umbrella, because we get a fair amount of showers.
Enjoy your stay!
Well… what the English call showers are generally considered ‘pouring down like there’s no tomorrow’ things over here

I spent 6 months in London last year, and it was really one of the greatest experiences I ever had. I saw everything (it seemed like) when I was there, but I would really recommend the following:
Take one of the tour buses. Really worth it as it gives you a nice overview of the whole city. Also you can do on/ off, so you can actually stop to see something that seems really intersting.
Westminster Abbey. I’m not religious, but it was beautiful. For an American like me just the sheer age of the structure was awe inspiring. Evensong is open to the public and beautful.
The Victoria and Albert Museum. Lots and lots of neat stuff, from almost everywhere.
The Tate Gallery. Wonderful modern art.
The British Museum. Great archaeology collection. Sutton Hoo exibit is cool, and I (sneakily) touched the Rosetta Stone.
National Gallery/ National Picture Gallery. Some of the best art the western world has produced.
Trafalgar Square. Feed the pidegons, feel like Mary Poppins.
The Tower. Beheadings. Need I say more?
The Globe. If it is open, this was great. But the really do make you stand up if you are in the pit.
Ok, that’s my list. But my biggest hint is anywhere you are, remember to look up. London has some great archetcture, both inside and out.
Have fun; I’ll be envying you!
