I'm going to San Diego - What should I do?

Okay, so it’s the end of the week.
We’d like a ‘trip report’ when you’re back.

How’d it go? What did you see?
Who did you do? What did you like?
What/who did you think was a waste of time?

I’m in the SD airport now, and they’re boarding my flight, so it’s as good a time as any for a report.

I had less time than I’d have liked, and less transportation. I did a lot of walking. I checked out Balboa Park and the zoo on the first day- horribly jetlagged, but I enjoyed it.

If I were to do it again, I’d probably skip the zoo in favor of other suggestions. It was big, and had good views of the various animals, but in some ways it was too big, and too devoted to selling food to humans - I found it too much of an “attraction”. I guess I still like the old fashioned zoos, like Honolulu. I did like the skytrain thingy. Excellent vantage point for the gorillas.

Balboa park is gorgeous. I wish I’d had time to see more of the museums.

I spent a lot of time in the neighborhood around 5th and Washington, eating. I also walked down to Lucha Libre. Very good food, and I picked up Luchador masks as gifts for the kids. I also spent a bit of time in Gaslight district, which was pleasant, but again, not enough time there.

I hope to find a reason to return with the family.

Thanks for all the help.
