Does not apply to me but among the reasons people might have: 1. Insufficient funds for said surgery 2. Being a poor risk for surgery 3. Not wanting to go through the pain of surgery and recovery 4. Having other priorities than conforming to your bias regarding appearances. ---

I’ve seen too many people with plastic surgery that look worse (in my opinion). I also tend to look down on people that have it and think of them as vain. But I make exceptions. I remember there was a girl in my calculus class in college. Great personality, great figure, pretty face…except for her nose. I swear it was about twice as big as it should be. If that girl had her nose fixed, I would not blame her one bit. I hope she did. ---

I wouldn’t consider myself to be “physically plain, ‘imperfect’ or outright homely.” I’m reasonably attractive, though not necessarily by US majority culture’s standards. I like how I look more than I like (1) medically unnecessary surgery; (2) outcomes of surgical “beautifying.” I’ve never worn makeup, had a perm or wave, or plucked my eyebrows, either. I had the opportunity to re-breast myself after bilateral mastectomy. I never considered it. I don’t see any compelling reason to do so. ---
